General Questions

What is mySay?

mySay is your way to talk on the web. Don't use boring text comments - mySay lets you express yourself with your own voice and hear friends and visitors to your website.

1. Say what you think
Phone mySay and record your thoughts, comments or questions - whatever you say will appear on the web.

2. Hear what others think
Let visitors have their say - get your own mySay MessageBox for them to call and comment.

3. Widget
Put your Messagebox on your MySpace or other webpage with a mySay widget. If you want, ask a question, show a photo or video to get the conversation started.

4. Favourites
Found someone that you like listening to ? Add them to your favourites and you can keep track of (and listen to) whatever they say.

Is it Free ?

Yes. Free as a little birdy. We don't charge anything. When you phone mySay, your phone company will treat mySay like a regular call.
(We also run corporate versions of mySay for big companies with lots of money but we'll let you have it free).

Where does it work ?

MySay.com works anywhere you can get to the Internet, but the phone-in service is only available in some countries right now. Here are the local access numbers you need (if your country isn't there, drop us a line at help@mysay.com and we'll see what we can do):

Do I have to register ?

If you just want to record a message for another person who already has a mySay messagebox then you don't have to register (although we'd really, really like you to). Just phone mySay and then key in their mySay messagebox number when prompted. Of course, if you want your own messagebox then yes, you gotta sign up here: http://www.mysay.com/signup

The mySay Widget

What does the mySay widget do?

Use the widget to put your Messagebox on your web page (MySpace, another social network, your blog etc.)

Then, visitors to your web page can listen to messages and record new messages, so you get to hear each other.

The widget allows you to put your own messages up there and allows friends and visitors to leave you messages.

You can also display a photo or a video and ask people to comment on it. "Am I sexy or what". "Does my bum look in big in this", "Isn't he cute, aaaaah ?". They'll phone up and record their replies. You'll hear what they say.

How do I get a Widget on my site

Signup here http://www.mysay.com/signup (its free), then choose 'get the Widget' on your home page.

How do I add my name and photo to a message.

You can either sign up for the service, it's free, or enter the sms code, which we will send to your phone.

Can I customize the widget.

Shure can. You can change these things:

• Question - Make it something simple - "Leave me a message", "Here's what I Say", or more exotic - "Tell me you Love Me in Foreign accent"
• Picture/Video - link to a photo or video (can be on youtube, flickr, photobucket) that you want to include. Just put the URL here.
• Color - the colour of the widget
• Font Color - the colour of the text on the widget
• Allow Comments - if you want to allow people to add comments (default is yes - if you just like the sound of your own voice, or want to put mySay on your blog, you might want to change this)

Using mySay from your phone

How do I record a message on my widget

First, make sure you've signed up for free at http://www.mysay.com/signup.

• Dial mySay to go to your messagebox
• Press 0 when prompted to record your message and hang up. (if you want, you can press # to review your message before saving)

How do I record a message on someone elses widget

If you're looking at their Widget or mySay home page, the instructions are right there for you, but here's what you need to do:

• Dial mySay
• Dial * followed by their messagebox number and then #. (For example to message JIMBOB dial *546262# - that's *JIMBOB# on your phone)
• Dial 0 to record a message in the messagebox

How do I listen to my messages

If other users leave messages in your messagebox, or if one of your Favourite users records a message you'll get to hear it. These will appear on your home page. If you want to listen to them on the phone, here's what you need to do.

• Dial mySay. If you have new messages mySay will tell you about them.
• Dial 1 to listen to new messages.
• When listening to messages, press the # key to skip through the messages

How do I listen to someone elses messagebox

You can listen to the conversation, all you need to do is

• Just like above, Dial * followed by their messagebox number and then #
• Dial 1 to listen to their messagebox.

Can i get a Direct Dial number ?

Yes, this is possible, please contact us at help@mysay.com.

Do I have to use the phone ?

No, not always. You can listen or create new audio messages on the web instead.To listen to your own MessageBox, just sign-in and go to your home page.

To add a message without using the phone, just upload it as an MP3 audio file or Text2Speech (the option is on the bottom right of the home page).You can do the same for any other user by browsing, searching for them and going to their home page.

Using Favourites to stay in touch

What are Favourites ?

Favourites are people you think are worth listening too, like yer best bud or your favourite star. If you have someone in your favourites list, any time they record a message you get prompted to hear it.

How do I add someone to my Favourites ?

To add someone to your favourites just go to their home page and click 'Add to Favourites'. Now everytime they record a message you'll get to hear it.

How can I say something to everyone that wants to listen

Just call mySay, dial 0 and record your message

Anyone that has you in their list of Favourites will hear your message when they dial in or visit mySay.com.

How do I listen to new messages from my Favourites.

You can listen to them on your home page, or, when you dial mySay you will hear new messages from your Favourites.

Multiple Messageboxes

Can i add multiple messageboxes?

Yes, the first one that you set up becomes your default messagebox.

Your Home Page

What is my home page, how do I see it ?

Your home page is the page that other mySay users can see about you. It contains information about you (your picture and stuff like that) and your messagebox (what you said, what people said to you) .

How do I edit my home page?

Just login and click on the 'settings' tab and edit your home page.

Can I record a voice greeting ?

Yep. Your greeting is played when anyone dials your messagebox and is also playable on your mySay home page and widget. To record it

• Dial mySay
• Press 7
• Record your message

How do I change my picture?

Choose the 'Settings' tab and click 'photo' and you'll find the option to change your picture right there.

Can I change the way my Message box looks?

Yes, click 'Edit Message box' on your home page and then click 'advanced' and you can make you changes there.

Security

Can I block people from leaving me comments ?

Yes, select 'Edit settings' from your home page, select 'Allow Comments'.
Set it to Off.

How do you verify that I'm not entering someone else's phone number?

We use a verification mechanism the first time you use the service to ensure that the person providing the phone number actually owns that phone. You're probably wondering how that works?! Well, we will send you an email with a pin code which mysay asks you to key into your phone keypad while it listens. When you've done that, we know that you're you, and that that's your phone (if you know what we mean!!).

Settings and Passwords

I've forgotten my password

No hassle! Just go to http://www.mysay.com and click on 'forgotten password' link.

We will prompt you to enter your email address and we will send you a new password.

Can I change my email address?

Of course! Just login and choose 'Settings' on your Home page and click on 'account settings'.

The messagebox name I chose is far too long, can I change it?

Yes, you can change your message box name, just go to 'edit message box' on your home page, choose 'advanced' and click on 'phone'. For example, *BIGDOG# is #244364# and is a lot easier to key on a phone than *PRINCEBIGDOGLOVEMEBABY# or *7746232443645683632229#

How do I cancel my account?

Please don't go! We will miss you :( But if you must, just login and choose the 'settings' page and click 'account settings'.)

Pass it on - Invites & Sharing

How do I invite a friend to join the service?

Easy peasy! There are 2 ways to do this:

1. Let us do it for you!
   You can invite your friends to join the service by clicking on the 'Invites' tab, entering their email addresses and we will send them an email on your behalf. If your friend accepts your invite, you will automatically be connected.
2. Sharing
   Have some fun! - Why not record a mysay message inviting your friends to join, and then use the "share" link on the message to email your friends. They'll receive your message and might be inspired to join!
